Infant mortality

Health Matters to Infant Mortality

Investing in health care matters to the youngest and smallest Alabamians.  The state currently has one of the highest infant mortality rate in the United States:  7.4 infant deaths per 1,000 live births.

Expansion states have seen a significant decrease in infant mortality.  By expanding insurance coverage, more women will have access to primary and prenatal care which leads to healthier pregnancies and healthier babies.
