Health Matters to the Opioid Crisis
Currently, all seven of Alabama's congressional districts are ranked among the nation's top opioid prescribers, creating an epidemic touching all corners of the state.
In 2015, Alabama had 5.8 million prescriptions written for opioids. That's more than the population of the state!
In states that have expanded insurance coverage, adults have access to treatment for their substance abuse, along with other mental health conditions. Alabama needs to help its adults with these challenges by expanding coverage. We would save lives and have a more productive workforce.
